Recently, Caroline and I set out with no agenda other than to explore. We weren't chasing famous roads or ticking destinations off a list. Instead, we followed the tiny lanes that most riders pass by without a second thought.
What we found reminded me why Wales remains one of the greatest places in Britain to ride a motorcycle.
The Roads Between the Roads
Everyone knows the headline routes. They're brilliant, and for good reason.
But the magic of Wales often lies somewhere else.
It lives on the narrow ribbons of tarmac that weave through forests, climb over lonely hills, cross ancient stone bridges and disappear into valleys that feel untouched by time. Roads where you might ride for twenty minutes without seeing another vehicle.

One of the joys of riding these quieter roads is that you never quite know what's around the next corner.
On this ride, it wasn't another motorcyclist or a tourist attraction waiting for us.
Instead, tucked away in the cool shadows beside the road, we came across a small herd of black Welsh cattle quietly grazing with their calves. They seemed almost invisible until we were upon them, perfectly blending into the woodland around them.
It was one of those wonderfully unexpected moments that remind you why slowing down can be every bit as rewarding as riding quickly.
