Birmingham

Perfectly placed in the heart of the country, Birmingham is the ideal starting point for some of the UK's finest motorcycle routes. Within an hour or two, city streets give way to rolling countryside, sweeping bends and roads that were made for two wheels.

Maybe you need to hone your urban riding skills and for this there is no better place or maybe you want to start from somewhere familiar and expand your horizons.

From Birmingham we can head west into Shropshire, where quiet country roads lead to the dramatic landscapes of the Long Mynd and the Stiperstones. The climbs, descents and panoramic views make this one of the Midlands' favourite riding destinations.

Continue into Mid Wales and you'll find legendary roads such as the breathtaking Elan Valley, where smooth tarmac winds through mountains, reservoirs and some of the most spectacular scenery in Britain. Further north, the famous B4391 between Bala and Llan Ffestiniog delivers mile after mile of flowing bends, while the world-renowned EVO Triangle has become a bucket-list ride for motorcyclists across the UK.

To the south-west lies the Malvern Hills, offering scenic routes through Worcestershire and Herefordshire, with quiet lanes, traditional villages and welcoming cafés perfect for a mid-ride stop.

For riders looking for faster A-roads, the A44 through Herefordshire and into Mid Wales combines sweeping corners with stunning countryside, while the A470 provides one of Wales' greatest north-to-south riding experiences.

Closer to home, the rolling roads of Warwickshire, the Cotswolds and the southern edge of the Peak District all offer rewarding day rides without the need for a long motorway journey.

Whether you're planning a Sunday morning blast, an all-day adventure or a weekend tour into Wales, Birmingham puts some of Britain's very best motorcycling roads right on your doorstep. Fill up, head out, and in no time at all you'll be swapping traffic lights for twisties and unforgettable scenery.
